I agree. Most users will only be using the upper graphical layer anyway (eg. mouse clicking) so I don't see any huge hindrance for the common user regarding the Wayland switch.
I expect the graphics layer to be much faster than it currently is, considering that compositor "dialogue" will be much more direct than what's happening currently with X. Again, exciting :).
