Mathias, as Evan pointed out in the original description, it is critical to pick up the major changes in Debian releases 1.6.dfsg.4~beta1-7 and -8 (dropping krb4) early in the Ubuntu release cycle. More important than even the 1.7 merge—which is likely to take significantly more time and effort, but will not have as much of a major impact on all Kerberos- using packages. I think we should go ahead with this 1.6.dfsg.4~beta1-13ubuntu1 upload before trying to merge 1.7.
