Greetings All: Having recently clean installed 12.04 as an upgrade from 10.04,
a couple of things immediately became clear; XCFE/Xubuntu is a different beast
than Gnome/Ubuntu and will take some getting used to. It's a matter of
reprogramming muscle memory and getting accustomed to the new arrangement.
Desktop Publishing/DTP appears to have been dropped from the default menus. I
was asked for some font advice and confidently went to US to create a quick
font catalog only to find no such tools available in the default installation.
Likewise, the website authoring tools appear to have been dropped. I can see
dropping the website tools, but the DTP tools? In the past, such tools have
included Scribus and the various font creation and management apps. I'm
saddened that they're no longer offered in the default configuration, though it
must be said that I've had much more success attracting potential users to US
with the audio/visual tools than with the publishing tools. Still and all, I'm
heartened that US has and will continue to evolve. I look forward to the next
LTS release.
