The iwlagn intel driver should cover most cards from yours, to the 4965,
to the 5300 I currently have.  I honestly don't change anything other
than some CPU specific options and applying the RT patch.  My wireless
usually just works now (my Intel based ones, if you have broadcomm well
all bets are still off).
