Id also suggest slampp for that, or possibly 8.04 with samba and and openssh then install webmin and configure samba with that, samba will work basically out of the box, look at this http://doxfer.com/Webmin/SambaWindowsFileSharing or read a guide i wrote which is in the Full Circle Magazine.
