Hi Steve, The info you gave is exactly to the point. The problem is bug/545443 and bug/496093.
Hopefully this bug will be corrected by an update in the near future as without a correction affected netbooks will not be using the otherwise excellent Ubuntu 10.4 and reduced to reverting to xp!
