That's reassuring. Thanks. I was worried the current Classic style
interface was disappearing all together.

I presume over the longer term that Canonical will concentrate its
efforts on Unity and the Gnome upstream team will concentrate on
gnome-shell as their preferred interfaces, so the gnome-panel or Classic
style interface may well disappear or at least become less and less well
supported at some stage.
