Thanks Cody for "what is" and "what's not" IRC verses IM LOL.... As you can see its been several years since I used any of those, because IRC/IM really is not my forte'. I do it only to show support for Ubuntu.
Joshua - thanks for suggesting irssi, in fact I installed it on a Raspberry Pi just for fun, and it works great!. Was able to connect to *irc.freenode.net <http://irc.freenode.net>* on channel *ubuntu-us-or* just fine, via irssi on a Pi. The only problem was my user name was "Pi____", because I have not figured out the "freenode" command to change the name to philn-k. I used the following CL inside irssi to connect: /server irc.freenode.net /join ubuntu-us-or /SET nick philn-k (does not work), also tried /SET user_name = philn-k. The documentation found on the web seems to differ, so does anyone know the proper "freenode SET" command to change the "user name"? Thanks in advance Phil.
