Hi guys,
My real name is Che Dean, yes, Che is my real name, I get asked this a
lot. I was named after Ernesto "/Che/" Guevara, my Mum saw a picture
of him on the cover of Time Magazine when she was pregnant with me.
She liked the look of him and so decided to name me after him. You
might have seen me around the IRC channels as Kereltis. That's what I
normally use in IRC, gaming, etc. I'm delighted to finally be a member
of Ubuntu Oregon, it's something I should have done a long time ago.
Thanks to Mark Dude for giving me the kick into the door I needed. I
currently live with my wife in Corvallis, a quaint but very
progressive city in the Willamette Valley, I love the bike lanes here
and the beer is awesome. I'm originally from Cork City in Ireland,
though I am half English and hold dual citizenship. I've been a
supporter and user of Ubuntu for several years now, my first taste of
Ubuntu was 8.04 as far as I remember (not as young as I used to be).
My epic Linux journey started when a friend of mine from Chicago
introduced me to OpenSUSE (KDE). I liked it but at the time I was big
into retro gaming and found, being the noob that I was, that I could
install the various emulators a lot easier on Ubuntu. I also fell head
over heals for the cube desktop and who could forget the wobbly windows.
That was the beginning. After using it for awhile and getting to know
the philosophy behind not just Ubuntu but Linux in general, I found
that it really suited my own outlook on life. I'm not a coder myself
but I like to help out where ever I can. My main skills are building
PCs of various different shapes and sizes and of course maintaining
and upgrading them. I use Ubuntu full time which makes life
interesting at times being a gamer (Steam is helping a lot). I'm also
a contributor to Rootgamer.com, a Linux gaming site based out of
Holland. We're quiet at the moment but plans are being made for the
future and converting the site to a more well rounded Linux gaming
support site, a bit like WoWhead except for Linux gamers. I've also
been a contributor to the unofficial Ubuntu Manual project, covering
the Thunderbird section for both 11.10 and 12.04.
Hobbies and oddities: My main hobbies at the moment are brewing beer
while trying as many of the wonderful Pacific North West craft beers
as I can, playing around and testing various Linux distros in VMs,
nature and food photography, reading comics, walking, and bicycling.

Welcome!!! I am a gamer myself, well not so much anymore due to the lack
of time lol. We are in the "process" of expanding this group with more
folks (again that darn time thing) but, the people we have are wonderful
and I will see you around!
