Hello So yes, this is a regression and it was previously working out of the box for older version (hardy and intrepid).
Ben PS : At this point this is a major problem for LTSP deployment as it means that those applications can not be used with a good user experience on Jaunty. And a Linux desktop without Gimp and Inkscape is lacking some very important functionality!
