You have been subscribed to a public bug: i have a old amilo pro and when i installed the jaunty version of ubuntu i got a screen resolution that does not fit. i tried to change some xorg.conf lines by adding some stuff and nothing happened. i am newer to linux but i find odd that i had suse 11.1 on it and i had no problems with the display configurations. but ubuntu;fedora ;mint and other distros canĀ“t seem to get it right as long as hardware detection is concerned please help me because im triyng to learn linux and if i can not install and configure a distro what kind of linux user am i. When i try to go to preferences/screen resolution i get by default a 1660x1200 with no refresh rate and if i try to change it to 1024x768 it goes nuts.
