Yesterday I updated from 10.10 to 11.04 on my Lenovo T400 with a Radeon HD 3400 graphics card. When I boot with the shipped kernel 2.6.38-8 the X server crashes, with the last kernel 2.6.35-28 it works fine. (See attachments)
I ran aticonfig as suggested but , alas, at no avail. Maybe there is a hint at 27,614 seconds in the xorg.1.log : "DRI initialization failed -- kernel module (fglrx.ko) may be missing or incompatible". I checked with "locate" but it is here. fglrx is up to date: fglrx: Installed: 2:8.840-0ubuntu4 Candidate: 2:8.840-0ubuntu4 Version table: *** 2:8.840-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/restricted i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/747729 Title: fglrx crashes X server on startup _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
