For the record, I am experiencing the same behavior, but I am using the binary "nvidia" driver, not intel. The problem seems especially likely to occur when switching to/from terminal windows and emacs instances. As soon as the parent window decides to redraw, the artifacts vanish. I experience panel corruption very similar to the posted screenshots.
