You have been subscribed to a public bug: Dell Precision M60 Laptop w/ Nvidia Go700FX video. Upgraded in place from 10.10 to 11.04. Started system, logged in, got to the desktop. Can see cursor but the screen seems to be slowly rolling. There is nothing on the desktop, no Unity. Try to get to virtual console and see a white screen with black deformed text. It appears I can log in but I can't read what I'm typing.
Tried a fresh install and encountered the same problem. The upgrade and fresh install bricked this laptop. I suspect the problem has to do with the Nvidia card. 11.04 fresh installed fine on my Dell Precision M65 which is newer kit. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid -- upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774554 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
