I would also like to add report things I have found out regarding the bug which I hope would help in debugging the problem.
I am not really knowledgeable on this, but with the help of the internet, I tried looking at the /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/jp file and the key layout seems to be according to what I was expecting. Below is a part of the file: key <AC01> { [ a, A ] }; key <AC02> { [ s, S ] }; key <AC03> { [ d, D ] }; key <AC04> { [ f, F ] }; key <AC05> { [ g, G ] }; key <AC06> { [ h, H ] }; key <AC07> { [ j, J ] }; key <AC08> { [ k, K ] }; key <AC09> { [ l, L ] }; key <AC10> { [ semicolon, plus ] }; key <AC11> { [ colon, asterisk ] }; key <AC12> { [ bracketright, braceright ] }; The key that is not working properly is the <AC12>. It is now currently outputting "\" and "|" instead of "]" and "}". I have also noticed an interesting observation: There is no such thing as AC12 on a normal US keyboard. (There are only 11 character keys on the row - asdfghjkl;'). However, if I switch the layout to US, the AC12 key (since I am using a Japanese keyboard it has the 12th key) will also output "\" and "|". -- Japanese pc 106 keyboard closing curley brace is showing | https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/81994 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
