I'm also having a similar complete freeze, no mouse movement. Fresh
install 12.04 32bit is freezing every so often. Was watching a video
earlier, noticed the curser was no longer moving for me then the video
started shuddering. Was typing an email a few minutes ago when it froze
again. I think this has happened like 5 or 6 times now. I have to hold
the power button to shut it down, then when it starts again it stops at
the colored screen but has a black section across it with colored lines
around the edges of the black, press the reset button and it will boot
to the grub boot menu. From there it starts ok but long boot time.

Release 12.04 (precise) 32-bit
Kernel Linux 3.2.0-24-generic-pae
GNOME 3.4.1

Intel® Core™ i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07GHz × 4
Asus ENGT240, not using Nvidia drivers due to the white screen issue with one
of my multiple monitors.
