@ Hein...Another desktop user here, you're right, didn't know so many people 
are usin laptops. Mine is a Sandy Bridge i3 with Asus ENGT 240 (rebadged 
Nvidia) and the only way 12.04 runs without issue is in 2d. I really like Unity 
3d but this is really irritating. If I didn't like Unity 3d so much I would 
certainly be outta here and looking for another distro. Then Nvidia's FUBAR 
drivers are another issue that pisses me off. I haven't tried the newer kernels 
yet cause I haven't found any concrete directions, don't want to screw this up 
much more. I already lost enough data and time.
It's funny, it seems all these reports are about Ivy Bridge and built in video, 
haven't seen much of Sandy Bridge and add on video. Must be the laptop thing 
lol.
