@Edson:
I have just checked it and it seems that the Xorg server starts even with no
updated version:
andrikos@Gauss: ~ $ dpkg-query -l |grep -e "video-intel" -e "fglrx"
ii  fglrx-amdcccle-updates                    2:9.000-0ubuntu3
         amd64 Catalyst Control Center for the AMD graphics accelerators
ii  fglrx-updates                             2:9.000-0ubuntu3
         amd64 Video driver for the AMD graphics accelerators
ii  xserver-xorg-video-intel                  2:2.20.0-0~andrik1
         amd64        X.Org X server -- Intel i8xx, i9xx display driver

Can you try keeping my intel driver, purging fglrx* altogether, reboot and then
install the fglrx drivers from the default repositories?
It doesn't matter that much, but maybe there is an additional issue on your
setup.
