I've got a samsung series 7 with a Radeon 64xxM card and an integrated intel card (not sure of the model). I've got the same problem as other people- backdrop and cursor, but no windows or sidebars. Apparently shortcuts still work, though; I was able to ctrl-alt-T to a terminal and try to start unity with logging (unity --verbose --log). The output is attached; not sure if this is helpful.
