is anyone working on a way to only use certain features of a proprietary
driver, when necessary?
obviously i don't need faulty AMD/ATI hardware accelleration fuctions for a
simple user switch..
that would be great.

or perhaps they could go open source on the configuration tool for the
proprietary driver!?

i cannot believe, that a professional hardware manufacturer makes his drivers
faulty like that, if the open source amateur project builds them reliably.
for the future of free software, we need to increase the independence of free
software against proprietary material.

did AMD ever announce going open source with their drivers?
http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/enterprise-linux/amd-will-deliver-open-graphics-drivers/
obviously they did already 2 years ago..
whatever happened to that?

how very sorry..
