Hi Christopher, thanks for your support! I didn't know Quantal reached EOL. How 
do I upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr? (4th record from current list on 
wiki) Warning: I can't open secured http-websites. But I'll be happy if you 
e-mail me the install-code,

It is strongly recommended you immediately backup your data, and do a
fresh reinstall via http://releases.ubuntu.com/trusty/ . It sounds like
your machine is either suffering from critical software errors, or your
machine is compromised. Upgrading would not be a great idea in this
case.
