J have the same problems. Notebook HP Pavilion 17-g164ng, AMD A10-8780P APU, Kubuntu 16.04.1, UEFI, UEFI/BIOS F.19. Nomodeset - 800x600 -is no solution for working. When starting life-system from USB in CSM mode, nomodeset, I get optimal resolution for my screen - 1600x900. But CSM-mode installation is no option for installation.
