How can I assist further with this? A lot of the original attachments my
system uploaded via the bug panel have been deleted from this report.

Just so you know the only way you can get the system to boot to being
usable is via nomodeset which I believe won't load the AMDGPU driver at
all (assuming this is valid with ubuntu as well

I have cross posted this in the freedesktop bugzilla as well as I don't
believe this is an ubuntu specific bug.

I have also tried with 16.10 recently but get the same results as 16.04
so it doesn't seem to be fixed in the later kernel :(
