Also affected with Asus Zenbook UX31E and Ubuntu 18.04.01.

Cannot connect external display via HDMI. Tried to add the hdmi output
manually with xrandr as well but I cannot get the external display to be
listed anywhere.

xrandr program version       1.5.0
Server reports RandR version 1.5


Looks like the Monitor gets some information about the HDMI cable being 
connected - but no display signal is received and monitor just goes to sleep.
