I've been having this problem too, on my Amilo LI1718 (Intel chipset variant of the X200M).
Just clean installed the Ubuntu RC and it took 7 attempts for xsplash to kick in (requiring a powering off and on of the laptop every time), and suspend/resume still doesn't work.
