Sorry folks. I haven't been here in a while. The problem still exists, but only with Compiz turned on. I have an NVidia graphics card with the NVidia drivers installed. I have, since, turned off Compiz and the problems have disappeared. I am, very much, a basic user of Linux and don't know how to diagnose problems with it. I'm currently running Ubuntu 9.04, fully up to date.
