I now have a Xorg log that shows the error. Lines 317 through 325 are repeated when I switch from the X display to a Virtual Terminal (VT) and back these lines appear. When switching back to the X display, it is shown for a very short period of time and then goes away (the monitor claims that the signal is gone). The problem is fixed by rebooting but returns when I switch to a VT. The last activities/changes that I have made are related to games. Notice that this happens with a different nvidia-graphics driver. So maybe the driver does not matter. I'll try not to frag the system image this time. :)
