Ok the fix mentioned by Bryce seems to be included in the mainline kernels as of v2.6.35-rc4. Could those of you affected by this bug try downloading and installing the latest Maverick kernel 2.6.35-7.10 or later and confirm whether this kernel will boot correctly? This kernel should work with at least Lucid. Please report back here. Thanks.
