Disabling ACPI didn't help.  Using an older kernel (the 2.6.32-22 linked
above) the computer works correctly, without freezing just because it is
in battery mode.  Don't know how to proceed from there.  Are there other
kernels to test to determine what the cause is? Someone knows what can
be causing this?  It appears to be related to something changed in the
kernel but what?

I want to be able to keep with the progress in the kernel but if it
means that I can't use my laptop on battery ...
