It is possible that the upgrade left you with a huge amount of cached
packages. Try running "sudo apt-get clean" in a terminal to clean the
caches. If that did not help, you could try looking into instructions in
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RecoverLostDiskSpace
However, I'm not sure if the lack of disk space has anything to do with
the slowdown
