No, it has something to do with the way the parameters to the system  
call are being passed into the kernel. I get strange values for  
advice. It looks as though there is a problem with the size of an  
int/long or byte ordering, or something. It's the same problems I saw  
before (mentioned in a previous post) but with the latest patch, the  
advice value is different.

I think I will have to follow Carmelo's suggestion and port the glibc code.
