Hmmmmmm... I understand that Steve Bennett got uClinux to run XIP from
***SERIAL*** flash on a WildFire SBC. This was back a while on 2.6.19.
Perhaps it has broken since?
Depending on the hardware the processor does not even need to know that
the thing in it's address space uses a serial interface. But this will
likely be rather be rather slow (if not using an Athlon hyper transport
channel :) ). OTOH a CPU cache can relax the speed problem greatly.
