It was on linux-kernel, I expect. For this particular problem, you might get better answers cross-posting to linux-ker...@vger.kernel.org as well as uclinux-dev. Although yours is a uClinux problem, a similar problem occurs in big servers trying to do high-order page allocations, and that sort of thing is discussed on linux-kernel.
