No, that's a real issue; there is no Linux BSP from Atmel. They've got some
support for Ecos (and, hence, redboot), but that's about it. It would be nice
if we could use the 2.6 kernel.
The chip implements a Gigabit Mac in the fpga; so the ethernet driver will be
unique.
This, I'm afraid, will be a hard nut to crack.
If you'd like, I can send the CAP7 data sheet. It's 11MB; let me know if you're
interested in looking at it.

Do you have a Linux BSP from Atmel for this chip? Are you looking to use
a specific version of the Linux kernel?
I'm in the process of updating a set of patches posted earlier[1] for
support of the NXP LPC2K SoCs, and I know there is another nommu
architecture coming in mainline linux as well.
If you can provide some more information, I could get you some pointers
to get started.
