The selection filter is not working

The selection tool isolates features and passes a box to the filer in the
"selection" view but this filter is not applied to the features so all the
features in the layer are shown
1) open a point layer
2) select some of the points
3) look at the "selection" view
==> all point features are shown not simply the features selected.
In 1.1M6, the filter simply didn't work.
