So far the best workaround for using your own map graphic is: 1. add a map graphic from the layer menu 2. find the mapgraphic entry in the catalog 3. open it up and choose the actual map graphic you want
We should also try and respect the Eclipse House Rules here, we list a couple "special" mapgraphics in the Layer... The "Other Rule" asks that we include a menu entry called "other..." that will bring up a dialog allowing the user to browse the available map graphics. You can see this in action as part of eclipse with the "Show View" menu.
