Trunk is compiling now. HOWEVER, (yes capitals are intentional).
Not all datastores have been tested with the new build. I know that
GridCoverages (Geotiff and world+image) work. As well as WMS and
Shapefile. I tried postgis and the Services import ok but I think
the changes to the Streaming Renderer were significant enough that it
doesn't work. I'll get that up and running today.
As with the other trunk, Styling probably doesn't work and I haven't
yet tested editing or the table view.

What is this plugin and where can I disable it? It's not created by
any
recent geotools build and I don't imagine it's being used by uDig.
Any help would be appreciated.
