It could be an IRC or Skype meeting, or just an email thread with Jira being used to short list what we have resources to do. I scheduled the uDig 1.2.0 release a couple weeks from now; so our task will be to look at our time over the next couple of weeks and plan how best to spend it.
I was glad to see languages sorted out (I would feel bad releasing 1.2.0 without language support); I think my top two issues are Firefox DnD and Oracle. I have also had the idea of a "catch all" GTVectorService and GTRasterService that is driven off the GeoTools data store api (it would not be as slick as some of out custom wizards - but it would also be able to do everything GeoTools does now allowing that community to test their work). The idea would be to start with uDig supporting new GeoTools datastores; and we only break out a custome Wizard / Service is there is interest from the out community.
