To answer your question: When we do make a uDig 2.0 it better have a lot more functionality otherwise we would just be laughed at. Changing the internals (while it may break compatibility) does not feel like a uDig 2.0 "product". Would it be okay if we just went to uDig 1.3.0 for this change?
