As the subject says. Even if teh select tool doesn't make much sense on raster data, it is one of the most used tools, since it contains smartly also pan and zoom.
The fact is that in a aschenario like this: - work with select tool on shapefile - select for a moment the raster layer in the layer view - get back to select the shapefile layer I have lost my select tools for the zoom tool. That is really bothering when you do poweruser gis. My 2c.
