The label issue seems very odd! Platform specific almost never gets us. Can you email me log from linux64? Something be crazy.

There is a strange behaviour with the editing tool, it doesn't refresh the modified feature until you do not exit the editing tool, so while you are editing you can see two features, the old and the new one. Is this a bug or a feature? :) So that is the edit vertex tool? Does the behaviour change depending on what datastore you are working with? I am not sure if it is a bug or a feature, normally we filter the feature being edited so it is not drawn with the rest of the content.
