In VDI the ZFS volumes are stored in a ZFS pool and accessed by xVM VirtualBox 
via iSCSI.
e.g. importing a Desktop takes 24 Min. with Opensolaris as Storage Server and 
only 3 Min. with Solaris 10.
++ when you update Opensolaris VDI is not working any more....
++ less stability ....(the hole VDI is sometimes hanging with Opensolaris but 
never with Solaris 10 )

If there is an overlapping package IPS will see this and refuse the 
Installation.
You can Test my Repository in the Virtual Box .

yes quality means the Developer are waiting years till the IPS Package is 
promoted
from Pending to contrib/ and some more years to dev/ ...
to slow for some Projects!
