Hi Bob, I don't really see your point. Eon Storage is opensolaris. Like freenas is freebsd. And I think we will see more and more "appliance like" opensolaris based distros in the future. The ranking in google doesn't look that low if you consider the young age of opensolaris.
Osol has it good and weak points. I think one of the weakest is it lacks some crucial packaged softwares. For example, I had to use inkscape on linux to create the chosug logo. But you have to remember that back in the days, many of the linux distributions logos (e.g. debian) were made with Adobe Illustrator on Mac OS or Windows machines because there was no good softwares for specific stuffs and look where it is now. The good thing is that we all can help and I'll definitely give a try to compile and package the softwares I miss from my linux machine.
