One simple solution which might work myUbuntu% ssh -X mySolaris gnome-terminal & if you still have the same problems, then something in the dot-files on your account of the Solaris host probably simply needs to be tweaked. If the problem goes away, then it could be a matter of using additional switches to the original call to ssh on your ubuntu box. Hope that helps Sam
