I assumed my x86 (sic) BIOS didn't support a DVD drive.  I had a Pioneer DVDRW 
that I tried and couldn't get working.

I kept getting "ghd_timer_newstate: HBA reset failed hba 0xd9cffc00 gcmdp 0x0 
gtgtp 0xd3554400" with the DVD drive.

Perhaps I need to try a different DVDROM drive.

If you friendly with your Sun Field Engineer, just get him to order you a 
replacement DVD-Rom.

There generally a consumable part so Sun wont want the faulty one back. =]
