The Inter-University Council for East Africa has announced the selection of 42 new Ford Foundation International Fellows for the 2004/5 academic year.

They were selected from the three countries of East Africa, including 14 from Uganda.

Uganda's winners, who are all set to take up master's degree programmes, include six women. Prof. C. Nyaigotti-Chacha, the executive secretary of the council, made the announcement yesterday.

The highly coveted fellowships attracted nearly 2,053 applicants.

The successful applicants get support up to three years of post graduation study in a university program anywhere in the world.
