Karim’s wife dead –may the loving Allah rest her soul in eternal peace!

KAMPALABusinessman Karim Hirji’s wife is dead. Ziba Charm Hirji succumbed to cancer at Cromwell Hospital in London on Sunday.

She died at about 10 p.m. Ugandan time.

One of Karim’s sons, Mr Rahim Hirji, told The Monitor yesterday that Ziba was first hospitalised in South Africa last November. She was later moved to London in December.

Rahim is the director of Ddembe FM.

He said his father was in London attending his wife by the time she died.

He said burial arrangements are yet to be finalised. The body is expected here tomorrow.

Several Kampala business people and family members gathered at Karim’s home in Kololo yesterday.

“He [Karim] has been with her until her death, and he even put aside his business interests and even his wealth,” a relative of the wife said. Family members said Ziba was in her mid-40s.

She is survived by six children
