KITGUM: 3 KILLED IN REBEL AMBUSH
General,ÂBrief

Three people were killed yesterday in another ambush conducted by the rebels of the LRA (lordâs Resistance Army) in North Uganda. The news was referred today by MISNA sources, referring that the attack took place in the location of Pawidi, around 40km east of Kitgum, administrative centre of the homonymous northern district.

At around 10:00a.m. local time, the rebels attacked a pick-up truck headed to the Catholic mission of Namokora. One soldier and two civilians were killed in the confrontation. The victims were then robbed of their personal possessions. Shortly before, another vehicle passed in the same zone, but was not attacked by the rebels.

A visit is underway in these days in Uganda of three Senators of the extraordinary Commission for the defence and promotion of human rights of the Italian Senate; they are collecting information on the conflict that for 17 years has been devastating the northern Ugandan regions and today should meet with President Yoweri Mueseveni.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."

- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
