The NATIONAL PARTY OF Press Release Nonviolence, when successful, provides long lasting
achievements. Some times violence is
successful in obtaining political ends.
The Lord’s Resistance Army led by Joseph Kony , operating in the
Northern part of It is obvious that this bizarre war in the North is
selectively hitting weak targets.
Killing babies and women is clear sign of frustration. To unleash terror
to the already terrorized, refugees in government shelters; in their own land
is devoid of any political motives. The
government amassed these helpless civilians in camps so it could provide them
with security and protection. Because the government would not like to admit
that it has failed to provide security to babies, it will not call this
massacre a massacre, but will blame the ill-equipped, unmotivated local guards
for having failed to protect the citizens. Killing
in considerable numbers where much resistance can not be made; killing with
indiscriminate violence. The act or an
instance of killing a large number of humans indiscriminately and cruelly; that
is what happened in the North, that what is called massacre. The guards ran or were overrun by rebels
using weapons much superior to what the government gave them and the local
guards were defeated decisively. That is a massacre. This recent slaughter credited to the Lord’s Resistance
Army comes at a time when many in the government have made statements that Kony will soon be no more.
That might as well be true, but if just a mere handful of LRA rebels
would slaughter close to 200 hundred citizens in hours, the government needs to
rethink its strategies in the approach to end the conflict in the North and in
providing security and protecting both lives and property of the citizens of
Uganda. Blaming local ill- equipped
guards should not be an option. ·
We fervently condemn the terror
unleashed to the citizens of ·
Killing innocent civilians must not be
used by politicians and religious leaders as a condition for peace. Such criminal acts should not be addressed by
a dovish approach. LRA has obviously
acquired weapons of human destruction from its coffers, and has not hesitated
turning such weapons to defenseless babies and women, a clear testimony that
the LRA is not for peace. ·
The government must come out in the open
and admit that it needs help from the international community to defeat
“prophet” Kony and his LRA uncanny
organization. ·
For 18 years, the nation has been held
hostage by external imperialism pressurizing the government to use political
solutions. We condemn such forces that
arm LRA at night with weapons of human destruction and yet during the day, urge
the government of ·
Both internal repression and external
imperialism advocating for political solutions to this war need new
