Army promotions aimed at devaluing Gen. Muntu

Reaction and action are opposite and equal, so said Isaac Newton said about one of the laws of motion.
As the saying goes, two small bulls are stronger and better than one big bull. I say that the recent Army retirement and promotions targeted Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu as a defence mechanism on part of the government to devalue his rank, in retaliation for his anticipations to challenge it by contesting against the perennial ruler of Uganda.

The hullabaloo in Kampala streets now is about the UPDF's promotions policy. Note that promotion is a way of motivating staff. Every promotion carries new responsibilities and challenges, benefits which are both monetary and non-monetary.
It causes higher satisfaction to the promoted, materially and psychologically, because it makes the promoted feel appreciated, needed, important, and definitely confident and great. They feel they are heroes in the eyes of their colleagues.

In all, it should be done purely on merit. Nonetheless, the enemies of merit in promotion are favours and discrimination like it has been perceived and this is purely a scramble for power to fulfill the president's selfish ambition for power thirst, hunger and greed of a rare nature.
He said past leaders were power hungry, yet he has ruled almost thrice as much as those who he reviled and spat on before.

This is a political innovation through the tactics, operation and strategies of devaluing Gen. Muntu by putting on him numerous Lt Generals, Maj. Generals, Brigadiers, colonels etc, to weaken him during campaigns. Business as usual!

The other strategy is to frighten all those who would ask about the failed NRM ten point programme, which has made education expensive, failed mixed economy, choking corruption, suicidal taxes, staggering nepotism and sectarianism, failed agriculture, decadent morals, intentional abolition of co-operatives and marketing boards indirectly creating eternal poverty for particular sections of people.
